• Behind the concept of "Rock Around" lies the idea of stepping off the beaten track, avoiding the hordes of tourists to focus solely on the cultural heritage of Bangkok with a distinguishing approach, our hallmark: telling stories.

Culturally-oriented private guided tours and excursions

Behind the concept of "Rock Around" and "Bangkok As You Like It" lies the idea of stepping off the beaten track, avoiding the hordes of tourists from all over the world to focus solely on the cultural heritage of Bangkok (monuments, religious sites, museums, galleries, institutions, street food, themed bars and restaurants, communities, parks, districts, etc.) with a distinguishing approach, our hallmark: telling stories, sharing its History.

Our vocation is to accompany you on these journeys, either through programmes named the 'Rock Around' series or 'Bangkok As You Like It' explorations (see below), as a close friend who has settled in Bangkok would, to whom you express your desire to discover what lies off the beaten track.

"Rock Around" Series

On this conceptual foundation, we develop thematic itineraries (see below) with a cultural vocation, aiming to narrate the emergence of Bangkok through its history and the contemporary issues facing the capital of Thailand: urban planning, societal choices, culture, environment, communities, economy, etc.

Each of these thematic routes is comprised of destinations that we refer to as "cultural assets" (monuments, temples, museums, galleries, etc.), which, when linked together, form an exceptional and unique journey. We will undertake these journeys on foot, by bike, by boat, or through the use of public transport. Immersion remains the key word, including in the way we travel.

To better prepare you before this cultural immersion, we will give you access to a web portal reserved for our clients, where you will find all the content we have created for you: historical and practical presentations of the destinations, photo galleries, videos, maps, and links.

Clients must book us first for a full-day 'Rock Around' tour (8 hours) or a half-day (5 hours) for a shortened route.

➡️ Bang Krachao: Bangkok's Green Lung

Bang Krachao (occasionally spelled as Kachao), is a vast man-made island nestled in a serene curve of Bangkok's Chao Phraya River, covered with lush Nipa Palm trees. This area, brimming with verdant landscapes, plantations, and parks, is commonly dubbed the "green lungs" of Bangkok. Situated in the Phra Pradaeng district, Samut Prakan province, Bang Krachao holds ecological significance due to its abundant greenery. This area plays a crucial role not in warding off invasions, but in combating environmental pollution. Remarkably, it is responsible for absorbing approximately 6,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually and surpasses this by emitting an even greater quantity of oxygen each year. Bang Krachao has been a refuge for the Mon community, displaced from lower Burma, for over a century, enriching its cultural tapestry.

Rock Around Bangkok Street Art

Rock Around Bangkok Street Art is a 5-district destination private guided tour experience. Bangkok boasts distinct areas renowned for their exceptional graffiti murals, notably Ratchadewi, Talat Noi, Bang Rak, Chinatown and Lat Phrao. These locations offer a glimpse into the world-class street art scene that Bangkok has nurtured.

➡️ Soi Charoeng Krung 32

The transformation of Soi Charoenkrung 32's once plain walls into a vibrant outdoor gallery can be credited to the Bukruk Urban Arts Festival. This event brought together a mix of Thai and international graffiti artists who turned these walls into their canvas. Noteworthy contributions include a distinctive three-eyed child mural by the artist Alex Face, an animated bear figure from Bonus TMC, mysterious faces by Kult, and the dynamic, color-rich pieces by Lolay. These pieces have significantly elevated the area's visual appeal, showcasing the rich diversity and creativity in street art.

➡️ Soi Charoen Krung 28

On Soi Charoen Krung 28, the street comes alive with three captivating examples of street art that invite an immersive urban exploration. The journey begins with the striking figure of "Pukruk" by Meubon, where a colorfully decorated bird gracefully balances on a unicycle, greeting visitors with its whimsical charm. Just a stone's throw away, a compelling black-and-white mural by Daehyun Kim, a talented artist from Korea, demands a moment of contemplation. Directly opposite, one can't help but be drawn to the intense and colorful world of Raul Oprea Sebastian, known in the art world as Saddo. The Romanian artist's work, rich in elements of pop surrealism, intertwined with mythological and religious motifs, offers a deep dive into an imaginative realm.

➡️ San Chaorong Kuak Alley

This slender passageway highlights the importance of street art, with every artwork thoughtfully paired with an explanatory note. It boasts a wide array of murals that capture scenes brimming with life and full-sized pieces that honor the dominant Chinese cultural influence in the area. Standout pieces include “The Lion Care” by Bonus TMC, which pays homage to the historic lion dances once prevalent in the community, and an esteemed depiction of a turtle by DR.CAS, which draws its inspiration from the local festival dedicated to venerating the turtle, a symbol of longevity. As visitors make their way through the alley, they'll find murals that perfectly integrate with the environment around them.

➡️ Soi Charoen Krung 30

Charoen Krung Road, specifically the section identified as Soi 30, is home to two captivating pieces of art that immediately draw the eye. The first, titled "Scratching the Surface," is an intricate mural carved into the wall by the esteemed Portuguese artist Alexandre Farto, who is better known in the art world as Vhils. This masterpiece is prominently displayed on the exterior of the Portuguese Embassy. Nearby, another visual treat awaits, created by the world-renowned Italian artist duo Sten and Lex. This second artwork consists of detailed stencil creations that cover the facade of an entire building, showcasing their unique talent and vision.

➡️ Song Wat Road

Song Wat Road is a street rich in history, adorned with three magnificent wall paintings by acclaimed international muralists. As you embark on your journey down this road, starting from the vicinity of Wat Pathum Khongkah, the first piece of art to catch your eye features a depiction of two majestic elephants. Continue your walk, and you'll soon find yourself between two striking pieces of art in a parking area that offers a stunning vista of the Chao Phraya River. To the left, you'll see an intricate mural of elephants, a masterpiece created by Roa, a celebrated Belgian artist renowned for his intricate depictions of local fauna. Directly across, your gaze will be met by vibrant blue bicycles, a creation by Aryz, a distinguished Spanish muralist known for his vivid street art.

➡️ Pathumwan Sky Walk

A stroll along the elevated walkway connecting the Bangkok Art and Cultural Centre (BACC), Siam Discovery, and MBK serves as further testament to the evolution of street art in Bangkok. This path is highlighted by distinctive mushroom-like structures that showcase the works of celebrated Thai artists such as Peerapong Limthamrong (also known as P7), Yuree Kensaku, and JECK BKK. These installations vividly demonstrate how street art has grown from its origins as mere colorful acts of vandalism to be acknowledged as a legitimate and respected art form.

➡️ Chalermla Park

Chalermla Park experienced a remarkable transformation thanks to the first-ever Bukruk Festival, which breathed new life into what was once an underappreciated public area. This event turned the park into a lively open-air gallery, where walls and surfaces became canvases for a colorful array of graffiti and murals. The artwork featured at the park included pieces by celebrated Thai artists like Alex Face and An Officer Dies, alongside various works by unidentified artists, enriching the space with a diverse range of visual expressions.

➡️ Klong Saen Saep

Delving into the heart of Bangkok, one can embark on a captivating exploration of the Ban Krua neighborhood, nestled along the Saen Saep Canal. This area offers a deep dive into the rich tapestry of street art that adorns its lanes, serving as a vivid reminder of the old Thai lifestyle. Ban Krua, historically significant for housing the silk production operations of Jim Thompson, lies in close proximity to his residence along the same waterway. A short distance from Chalermla Park and beginning at the Hua Chang Bridge, a stretch of approximately 500 meters of the canal's banks is transformed into an open-air gallery, showcasing the works of both local and international street artists, creating a vibrant mosaic of urban culture.

➡️ Talat Noi

Talat Noi, with its antique charm nestled in the heart of Bangkok's Chinatown, might not seem like the go-to spot for the younger generation hooked on social media, adventurous tourists, or even the local crowd. This area, steeped in a timeless ambiance, appears to resist the rapid pace of modern life, making it seemingly less attractive to those accustomed to constant change. Despite the infusion of modern hotels and public buildings, the historical essence of the locale is palpable in its architecture. A leisurely walk through Talad Noi, one of Bangkok's most historic districts, offers a glimpse into quaint Thai-Chinese bylanes. It's home to an array of striking wall art, notably in Alley Trok San Chao Rong Kueak, as well as Soi Vanich 2 and Soi Charoen Krung 22, showcasing the area's rich cultural tapestry.
